Terminology: Exercise Arrangement

An exercise arrangement is an extended form of an exercise reference. Instead of referring to a single exercise in the library, an exercise arrangement contains multiple references. The exercise that is presented to the student is randomly selected from these references. If the exercise that is referenced to is also randomized, then a random instance of that exercise is generated.

An exercise arrangement allows to generate a wide variety of randomized exercises. This allows you to assemble an exercise that covers e.g. multiple skills corresponding to a paragraph or chapter.

The references in an exercise arrangement can be organized into multiple levels of difficulty. This feature is used in the exercises of Stepwise Math, a free math practice website.
