An exercise is defined through some generic information and some interaction-specific information.
The generic information is the same for all types of exercises. Which generic information you can author depends on the system you are using to author AlgebraKiT content.
Below, all information that is offered in the AlgebraKiT CMS, is listed.
Generic information
- audience: to be selected from the dropdown box. The audience identifies the type of student for which this exercise is meant. AlgebraKiT uses the student type to adjust the mathematical notation, automatic derivations, hints and error feedback.
- name: choose a describing name for the new exercise (e.g. exercise number + name of exercise in course book). This name is the file name of this exercise in the AlgebraKiT CMS.
- questions: choose the way questions are rendered to the student. The two available options are One by one (showing the next question after the previous question is finished) and All at once (immediately showing all questions). The first option is particularly useful if the questions elaborate on each other.
- title: optional field, which contains a title for the student that can be used in your Generic CMS. The value for name is used in case the title is left empty.
- description: optional field, where you can enter a description for the new exercise (e.g. what the goal of the questions in the exercise are).
- comment: optional field, where you can add a comment in the comment field. This can be particularly useful if you are working with multiple authors on the same exercises or during review rounds.
- modes: optional field, where exercise generic modes can be entered. Refer to the Reference Guide for the list of all available modes.
- additional metadata: refer to the explanation about metadata for more details.
